Bullhead Woman Sentenced For Assaulting Another Woman

United States Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced that a Bullhead woman charged with Assault Resulting in Serious Bodily Injury was sentenced on May 16, 2011, by United States District Judge Charles B. Kornmann. Paula Iron Shield, a/k/a Paula Crow Ghost, age 36, was sentenced to 30 months in custody, three years of supervised release, and a $100 special assessment to the Victim Assistance Fund.

Iron Shield was indicted for Assault with a Dangerous Weapon and Assault Resulting in Serious Bodily Injury by a federal grand jury on August 17, 2011. The charges relate to an assault by Iron Shield on another woman at Bullhead in January 2009. Iron Shield pled guilty to Assault Resulting in Serious Bodily Injury on February 7, 2011.

This case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Bureau of Indian Affairs, Standing Rock Agency. Assistant United States Attorney Mikal Hanson prosecuted the case.

Iron Shield is to report to the United States Marshal’s Service on June 6, 2011, to begin serving her sentence.
